Introduction and Background

The Farm

MOGI FARMS is a private limited company established in 2018 and officially incorporated in 2022 under the Ugandan Companies Act. It is an Agribusiness enterprise with a specific focus on farm productions and other value chain operations of crops, agroforestry and livestock products.

Location and Land Size

The company is located in Amuru District, and it operates with another production unit in Nwoya District, both in Northern Uganda.

The farm currently sits on 2,300 Acres of land, with 400 acres purchased owned and 1,900 acres under a 10 years leasehold agreement, but with a possibility to purchase the same within the lease term period.

The Investments

The farms investment portfolio is both for short- and long-term production investments. Crop production like soybeans, maize, rice, beans and livestock production (Cattle, Goats and Poultry) are currently on the leased land while long term investments such as agroforestry including coffee, bananas, macadamia, Cashewnuts and other trees plantations are on the freehold owned land.

The Co continues to look for investment capital to buy more land to allow for sustainable and long term, including expansion of agroforestry and livestock investments (Exotic cattle and goats breeding centers, Bamboo plantation, Musizi, Teak, Eucalyptus, Grevilia and Mahogany).

The high canopy deciduous tree species plantation shall help to improve the local climate. Up to 300 acres is planned for afforestation, in part as a response to climate change intervention measures and replacement of the original vegetation cover lost as a result activities preceding farm estate establishment.

Master Plan

The Company business master plan is to operationalize the complete value chain for all its enterprises and serve the final market with quality products and ultimately to create the MOGI Farms brand that would establish and sustain a market niche for all her products.

Adoption of Out-Growers schemes, specifically using NUCLEUS FARMING MODEL for each enterprise development to established a sustainable production and supply capacity to meet the growing market demands.
